Never have I been more at a loss for words then the other day. I was finally ready to get a new toothbrush. My bristles were no longer holding the paste up and I decided that was simply too soft and it was time for a replacement. It happens every few years for me and usually I find it to be a fun experience. Dental hygiene is something that I try to keep up with and yet I am not a role model for dental health either. So I will say make sure to follow your healthcare providers information first. As I am not giving medical advice only talking about my megure dental experiences. So after the droopy toothpaste experience I decided it was time to work on getting a new brush. So I started off by doing what most people do. Going on amazon and seeing what was out there. After browsing for 15 minutes or so I was unable to choose the brush for me because there were so many promises and sizes and shapes. It actually confused me a bit. So then I decided to research on the internet. So many websites came up with ads for this and that. The general notion that a soft toothbrush was most prominent but then there were a few people swearing that a harder brush got plaque off better. The harder I looked the more mixed information I found on both sides of the bristle conversation. Shoot I even found a 5,000 dollar toothbrush but it was not promising anything more than the 4 dollar one on amazon. After being a little frustrated I just picked up my mask so ask not to get arrested on the way to the grocery store and headed in. The looks of fear and worry that normally happen at the local kroger started already. All i had to do was walk close to someone while going through the door and fear already began. But I pushed it aside because my dental health was at stake. So I went to the toothbrush isle and saw what seemed like thousands of brushes. Soft bristles, hard bristles, sized for kids and ergonomic this and that. It was all just as crazy as Amazon. It turns out the not so flashy brush that said soft bristles and had a fun pattern on them was the winner for me. Simple, safe, and I won't be going down that isle until next year! Now while the world is a little crazy it is time to implement the right routine for brushing. Since many of us are working from home we are also eating a little more at home than normal. But since we are able to I suggest adding an extra brushing time into your day. Make it a lunch habit so you get a little extra protection in through the day. So after you clock out and head to the kitchen. Make your food and then eat it. But at the end make a conscious decision to go brush your teeth as though it was the end of lunch break. This implemented will give much added protection against plaque and tartar build up through the day and fight against the extra drinks or snacks that you add on by being at home.
